Krka National Park Hours & Fees

Entry to Krka National Park is paid and seasonal: €40 per adult from June to September, €20 in April, May and October, and just €7 from November to March. The park opens year-round, from 8:00–20:00 in midsummer down to 9:00–16:00 in winter.

Opening Hours

Krka National Park opens every day of the year, including weekends, with hours that shift by season rather than by weekday. The main sights — Skradinski buk and Roški slap — run 08:00–20:00 from June through August, tapering to 09:00–16:00 from November through February.

The only full closures are 25–26 December. Boat transfers between Skradin and Skradinski buk run just 1 April–31 October, so winter visitors must use the Lozovac entrance.

Best Time to Visit

The best time to visit Krka National Park is May, June, or September, when temperatures sit around 18–25 °C, all boat services run, and the crowds thin out considerably compared with July and August. Spring also brings strong waterfall flow and active wildlife along the boardwalks. Peak summer draws over a million annual visitors into packed boats and capacity limits, so arrive at the 8:00 opening or come after 15:00, when the summer adult ticket drops from €40 to €30.

Period Crowd Level Recommendation
Early morning (08:00–10:00) Low Be at the Lozovac car park by 8:00 in summer and take the first free shuttle down, or catch the first boat from Skradin — the boardwalks around Skradinski buk are at their quietest, ideal for photographers and anyone who wants the falls to themselves.
Late morning (10:00–13:00) High Tour buses from Split and Zadar (93 and 76 km away) land in this window, and the Skradin jetty queue stretches by mid-morning, so it suits only visitors who don't mind jostling on the boardwalk circuit.
Early afternoon (13:00–15:00) High The busiest, hottest stretch of the day — July and August temperatures regularly top 30 °C with little shade on open viewpoints — so bring water and sun protection if you're stuck with this slot on a day tour.
Mid to late afternoon (after 15:00) Moderate Day-trippers head back to the coast and the June–September adult ticket drops from €40 to €30 (children 7–18 pay €11.25), a solid trade for families and budget travelers who can stay into the evening — the park runs until 20:00 in summer.
Late day (18:00–20:00, summer only) Low The final two hours before the 20:00 close in June–August are calm and golden-lit, perfect for a second, unhurried loop of the boardwalk — though note you can't re-enter a locality on the same one-day ticket, so don't leave the falls area in between.

How Long to Spend

Plan on half a day at Krka National Park — enough for the Skradinski buk boardwalk circuit (60–90 minutes of walking, 2–3 hours with photo stops) plus the 20-minute boat transfer from Skradin. A full day lets you add the 2-hour Visovac Island excursion or the 4-hour boat tour combining Visovac with the Roški slap cascades. Cyclists and hikers exploring the upper park's trails should budget more.

Skradinski buk boardwalk circuit (17 cascades, watermills, ethno village) 2–3 hours
Boat transfer from Skradin to the falls 20 min each way
Visovac Island monastery boat excursion (30-minute island stop) 2 hours
Visovac + Roški slap combined boat tour (90-minute stop at Roški slap) 4 hours
Čikola River cruise 45 min
Cycling or hiking the upper-park trails (Manojlovac, Miljacka, Oziđana pećina) Half to full day

Visitor Tips

01

Beat the crowds

Be at the Lozovac car park by 8:00 in July or August and take the first free shuttle down — over a million people visit each year, and once the park hits capacity in peak season, latecomers wait at the gate. If you can't do mornings, come after 15:00 in June–September, when the adult ticket drops from €40 to €30 and the boardwalks have thinned out.

02

Buy tickets online

Tickets aren't sold in time slots, but buying online at shop.np-krka.hr skips the entrance desk queues entirely, and the ticket already covers the Skradin boat and Lozovac shuttle (both run 1 April–31 October). Visovac boat excursions are the exception — the €15, two-hour trip is sold only on site at Skradinski buk, so build in jetty time for that one.

03

Plan your route first

The one-day ticket admits you to each locality once, so you can't bus in from Lozovac and return by boat from Skradin on the same ticket. Decide your entrance before buying. Most visitors do the Skradinski buk boardwalk in 2–3 hours; add the 20-minute boat cruise each way if you start in Skradin, or budget a full day for the four-hour Visovac and Roški slap boat tour.

04

Skip July and August

May, June, September and early October bring 18–25 °C, full boat service, and far fewer people than the packed peak months. Winter has its own draw: from November to March the river runs at full flow, the entry fee falls to €7, and the falls stay open 9:00–16:00 — though the boats stop and Manojlovac and Burnum close until April.

05

Wear grippy shoes

The wooden boardwalks and tufa-side paths around Skradinski buk are permanently wet and slippery, with steps and narrow sections — trainers with real traction beat sandals. Bring swimwear only for the designated spots at Roški slap, Stinice and Pisak, and only between 1 June and 30 September; swimming at Skradinski buk has been banned since January 2021 to protect the travertine.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much are Krka National Park tickets in 2026?

Adults pay €40 in June–September, €20 in April, May and October, and €7 from November to March. Arriving after 15:00 in summer cuts the adult price to €30. Children under 7 always enter free, while ages 7–18 and students pay €15, €12 or €4 depending on the season.

What is included in the Krka National Park entrance ticket?

The ticket covers the boat between Skradin and Skradinski buk and the shuttle bus from Lozovac, both running 1 April–31 October, plus one entry to every open land locality that same day. Boat excursions cost extra: Visovac is €15 for two hours, Visovac plus Roški slap is €20 for four hours, and the 45-minute Čikola cruise is €10. Note that each locality can be entered only once per ticket, so you can't bus in from Lozovac and return by boat from Skradin.

Do I need to book Krka National Park tickets in advance?

Tickets aren't sold in time slots, but the park applies capacity limits in July and August, and once it's full you wait your turn. Buying online at shop.np-krka.hr skips the entrance queue. Boat excursions to Visovac can't be reserved online at all — they're sold only on site at the park.

Is Krka National Park open in winter?

Yes, year-round. Skradinski buk and Roški slap run 9:00–16:00 in January, February, November and December, and the river is at its fullest then, so the falls are at their most photogenic. But boat transfers stop for the winter (they run 1 April–31 October), Manojlovac and Burnum close November–March, the park shuts entirely on 25–26 December, and on 1 January only the Lozovac entrance is open.

What are Krka National Park's opening hours?

At the main localities, Skradinski buk and Roški slap, hours scale with the seasons: 8:00–20:00 from June to August, 8:00–19:00 in May and September, 8:00–18:00 in April and the first half of October, then 9:00–16:00 through the winter. Manojlovac and Burnum keep different hours — 10:00–18:00 in April–June and September, 8:00–20:00 in July and August, closed the rest of the year. On 24 and 31 December the park closes early, at 12:00.

Can you enter Krka National Park for free?

Yes, on 1 May (International Labour's Day) entry is free for everyone, and pilgrims enter free on Easter Monday before mass — expect the year's biggest crowds on those days. Free entry with ID also applies to Homeland War disabled veterans, people with special needs or over 50% disability plus one companion, and European Disability Card holders with a companion. A 'Friends of the Krka' annual pass costs €60 for foreign adults.

How many hours do you need at Krka National Park?

The Skradinski buk boardwalk circuit takes 2–3 hours with photo stops — the walk itself runs 60–90 minutes, and that's before the watermills and the 1895 Jaruga power plant at the end of the trail. Add the Skradin boat transfer and you're at half a day. A full day lets you take the 2-hour Visovac excursion or the 4-hour Visovac plus Roški slap boat tour, which are sold only on site.
